Spring thaw is here. Dog owners please ‘catch-up’ on poop patrol on Montana Creek. Also if you see Grateful Dogs doing a clean up, thank them for their efforts. Get out and ski while we still can!
Our 4th annual Border 2 Border Ski Event, inspired by a 500KM classic ski event across Finland, will be held ONCE AGAIN this Saturday March 9th, concluding at Eagle Beach State Park. This is NOT a race but a chance to enjoy all of our groomed ski trails on the same day!
We start (with the Finnish Flag, and a bib to log your kilometers) at the North Douglas Pioneer Road, move to Eaglecrest Lower Loop parking lot and move along to the Mendenhall Campground and lake, Montana Creek and will finish at Eagle Beach State Park. There will be Finnish-themed snacks and drinks at each trail.
Here’s the B2B schedule:
North Douglas Pioneer Road: 8:00-9:30
Eaglecrest Lower and Upper Loops: 9:30-11:30 (Bring your Eaglecrest Nordic Pass and park in the lower loop lot)
Montana Creek: 2:30-3:30
Eagle Beach State Park: 4-5 with BBQ, fire, and PRIZES to follow after 5PM.
BRING POTLUCK ITEMS AND YOUR OWN EATING UTENSILS
Ski as much as you want at each trail. Ski at all of the trails if you are able, 44 km!
Can’t make it to all trails? Come to as many as you can and meet at Eagle Beach State Park for the celebration of a great Nordic ski season!! See the website for more info and any updates. jnski.org
Thanks to late Monday night grooming, Montana Creek was perfect for skate skiing this morning and NO ONE IS OUT THERE! Get away from the crowds at the lake and campground and go ski Montana Creek. Classic track is in poor condition.
Groomed this morning at 0800. Did not touch the classic track, but it looks good and is rock free. Fresh corduroy down the center!
Will start grooming lake after campground probably around 10:30 am today 26th
Will start grooming campground around 10 am today Tuesday 26th
