Outer loop was finished at noon and inner loop should be done by 1:30. Much of the washboarding was smoothed out by going slow with the groomer, about 10 mph. The downside is that it takes quite a bit longer to groom. Thankfully Doug helped groom the lake. Beautiful conditions. Better get out there while you can.
Groomed skate and it’s in great shape. Did not reset classic.
THANKS TO THE CLUB, Eagle Beach state park, Dave/Eaglecrest and all our overtime and amazing groomers for getting all nordic areas in Juneau ready for our Border to Border event. Ski one or ski all and enjoy one another- that’s the hope; another is that you enjoy the provided pickles! Please grab a friend and start at the Pioneer rd at 8, or EC at 930 or campground/lake at noon and we will all meet at Eagle Beach State Park for a 5-7 potluck. This is it! – the only event of it’s kind in the Nation. All highly coveted and participatory B2B bibbs created by the Juneau Nordic Ski Team
A couple of passes to smooth out the skate skiing. Didn’t touch the classic track it is in good (frozen) shape! Enjoy, and see you tomorrow at the border to border event!
The snow machine is fixed and grooming is back at Eagle Beach. The area will be ready for Saturday’s Border to Border event.
As of Thursday night, all of the track had been groomed for skate. Classic track will be set Friday. The plan is to groom once more on Saturday before skiers arrive.
Conditions on Thursday were excellent; good snow coverage, very little tree debris.
I’ll start grooming the campground about 8:30. Doug will be helping out with the lake and everything should be groomed by about noon. Hopefully we’ll get another couple of good days skiing before the weather turns sour.
