3-11-19 Mon 5:30pm 37 degrees. Light rain. Soft on skate track. Firmer condensed corn snow in classic track. Good snow depth.
The Pioneer Road grooming effort is a perfect example of our Nordic ski grooming efforts – it sounds trite, but it’s very true: “if you build it, they will come.”
A huge pat on the back to all of you guys that kept that road groomed. Cheers!
The ski season for the Pioneer Rd is over. The snow is melting away fast and Enco is plowing the road so they can remove their logs.
Thanks to Tim, Mike, and Hank for coming together at the last minute to remove JNSC equipment from the road before Enco arrived.
If you still are needing some Island Time consider Eaglecrest – especially the upper loop. It is worth the effort to get up there either by your legs or Hooter chair. The skiing is great and the scenery magnificent.
Groomed Eagle Beach for skate and classic. Soft conditions for both. Classic track gets soft along main road on left side towards hill, beware the ditch, I got stuck twice! A lot of debris from yesterday, but ginzu buried most of it.
3/11 Mon. A few sprinkles but campgrnd good to go. Inner/smaller loop on lake is groomed. Noon. Js
Both tracks came out beautifully. Snow is soft and temps are rising. Almost is hats and gloves off skiing. The campground is firmer but the quiet up Montana Ck. is wonderful. Plenty of snow left and conditions should be better in the mornings after a fresh groom and maybe some cooler setup happening at night.
Should be able to reset both tracks this morning. More to report later, after I get my two laps in post grooming time!
