Yes, the lower loop is a bit soft and has not been perfectly compacted yet, especially when compared with the other tracks around town that have a hard base (campground-pavement, lake-hard ice, Montana Creek-hard dirt road). But it is beautiful on the lower loop with great hills and a gorgeous meadow loop. It is absolutely perfect for a classic ski. Keep your pole plant close to your foot and you won’t break through. Good skiers will appreciate the challenge of being able to ski well in all conditions! Think positive and THANK EAGLECREST for grooming!!!
We just returned from the Lower Loop. It is still too soft for decent skating. The track is torn up in many places as it always is before compacting is complete. The classic track is nice, though the track is too soft for good poling. The loop needs to be further compacted before we can get our season underway.
Campground and Lake groomed. Beautiful weather and great conditions!
The lower loop is groomed for skate and classic. Coverage is excellent. Looks fantastic!
So. Much. Snow. Really excellent classic skiing, not so great for skate skiing right now. Rumor has it that it might be groomed on Sunday. I will try to post early if they do.

Eagle Beach is groomed for skate and classic Friday night. The snow was fairly wet and is somewhat thin back in the trees, but all of the track is still very skiable and groomed up nicely. With colder overnight temperatures, the snow will set up well overnight; the best skiing on Saturday will be in the morning.
