Snow surface still good and plenty thick. Skate track in nice shape and classic getting worse because we can not reset it with equipment so far away. You have to walk down from the upper meadow to the last flat place before the bridge and creek to catch our grooming. But it’s well worth it if you still wanna ski.
Will reset skate but classic equipment not available
I hit the Lake Creek (UAS) trailhead at 6 and was skiing by 7. Conditions were firm and coverage was great. I started hiking back by 9:45 and it was just starting to soften.
Groomed skate early and it was 28F there. Excellent conditions then but will warm up in this sun. Earlier is better. Still a classic track but starting to fade. All in all though plenty of snow remains there and this could last all week into the weekend.
I will post on conditions after returning from grooming this morning.
Finished grooming at 9am. Good skate conditions. The classic track is getting weaker. A piece of paradise.
I’ll start grooming Montana Creek today about 8am. Conditions should be similar to yesterday. Get there early before the snow softens up too much.
