Pulling on my dry suit right now (about 8) to go and take a look. Not optimistic but will give it a go. The river of rain appears to have washed into Juneau. Will post afterwards if I make it out. If no word someone should come and throw me a life preserver!
Rumors of atmospheric river arriving with the New Years Eve Ball Drop stimulated the Montana Creek crowd, they were legion.Skate lane was good. The best diagonal track is on the left, the groomer reset the right before the bridge, then set only skating. Want more diagonal? leave beer at the groomers shack, then we’ll see.
Lower loop still very icy for beginners. Ice packed hills until I got to the northern most straightaway on the meadow loop. Fun, but painful!
Very good classic late Saturday afternoon. Tracks a little beat up on top, but really nice the rest of the 3 km.
Icy, hard. No sugar coating here, multiple passes with the ginzu helped. Others might call it firm and fast. Bring band aids.
A beautiful day on the lower loop but very icy conditions. Scott did a great job grooming with limited snow. Temp about 26 F so everything is firm & icy & very fast, great for skiers with strong skills but probably not good for beginners.
Montana skate reset and classic left as track is solid. Fast conditions as temps dropped overnight and hardened everything. It will warm up as day progresses.
