Pretty fun skate skiing out on the frozen lake today! Start at Skater’s Cabin, stay away from the edges and double pole across the bare ice sections. You can easily cruise on the snow patches and play “connect-the-dots” across the lake. DANGER! Be smart and stay safe – do not go past the rock peninsula.
Try Luge Sledding from noon to 2:00 PM today (12/25) on the run named Muskeg above the Eaglecrest lodge. Luge sleds and Instruction provided. Bring flexible footwear, helmet and goggles. Hot chocolate optional!
crystalline, abrasive snow, some bare spots for double poling only, as usual, use common sense and be safety conscious.
Dec 24. Groomed Montana Creek First half has some exposed gravel. Top half excellent skating.
First half a little sketchy due to some gravel. Second half has good cover and conditions.
Just groomed Montana Creek. First half is thin, but upper half looks great. No classic track but skate looks good. Be careful on lower half as there is a few spots with gravel.
I confirmed yesterday’s report by skiing to the upper loop this morning. You can ski up the road all the way from the lodge – watch for some gravel in spots. Once you are below the Black Bear chair you can follow skier set tracks around parts of the upper loop and even back on the Troy Loop. A few slightly tricky creek crossings can be managed. It’s better than not skiing and the views are incredible. Use caution skiing down as it’s harder to see the rocks. I took my skis off in a few spots as I didn’t want to gouge my bases.
