Groomed for skate this afternoon. Snow is soft. Mornings a most likely the best as it has been freezing there at night.
I rolled the campground yesterday afternoon. There is 3-4 inches of snow on the open portions of the road, but lots of bare spots and rocks showing in the woods and at the base of the hill. You could pick your way around on old beater classic skis, but don’t take your new skate skis out there. Better yet, ski Montana Creek and hope for more snow.
Thanks to Del’s grooming Sunday night,
skating Monday morning was excellent.
who know’s perhaps it will last?
Groomed for Skate tonight. Did not touch Classic still looks pretty good. Used roller. Did get a skiff of snow while grooming. Stars and Clouds should freeze there to night.
We’re driving out to Eagle Beach to check conditions this afternoon and see whether or not it’s worth it to groom tonight. We will post later today if we groom so that people can ski out there tomorrow (and hopefully a while beyond that).
1.5 inches of new snow. On top of yesterdays snow. Great Classic skiing on no wax skies. Could ski all the way to top of hill. Was not groomed to day. May groom tonight so will be set up Monday morning. Ski now the “R” word is in the forecast the rest of the week.
Snow is soft and easy to ski tour on upper loop. I skied entire upper loop this morning, with a few interesting creek crossings and an occasional bushwhack through light brush. Easy hike up either Sneaky or road and no problem skiing down on skinny skis.
