There is soft skate skiing conditions above the avalanche area but due to icy conditions below it is not possible to get the groomer there and back. Feels like spring.
Eaglecrest is keeping the upper loop nicely groomed for skate and classic skiing for this Presidents Day weekend. Clinics with visiting PSIA Nordic Demo Team Coach Scott McGee are a huge success. If you had a chance to spend a few hours with him today either skate or classic skiing, then you know what I mean. Tomorrow morning is your last chance to take a skate ski clinic with him while he is here. You will be glad you did!
Conditions same as yesterday
1000 Friday, just finished grooming. Good skate skiing a little before the mudslide and after mudslide. Wear ice cleats.
Upper Loop trails are good today, softer snow with warm temps. Classic with fish scales, and skating. A few spots where edges have melted out, but trails are firm enough, not punchy. Getting to the UL is tougher as much of lower mountain is melted off. You can hike in ski boots fine but hiking boots or extra toughs would also be fine.
Groomed this morning. 45 degrees and melting fast. The first 1 1/2 k (1 mile) is ice. But after the landslide the skiing is pretty good. Just a lot of walking to get there. Bring grippers.
Del groomed Montana Cr for skate. Excellent skiing above landslide. Bare pavement and ice to just above Montana Cr bridge.
