Conditions are still good at the Mendenhall Campground for skate and classic. Zero skis worked well today in the classic track. It was nice to see so many smiling skiers out there!
Fresh snow compacted well and formed solid classic and skate tracks. Comfortable temps and no rain when I left at noon.
Upper loop was like a dream in a dream this morning. I’m talking levels man. Get up there, now. Groomed as of 8am.
Skate skiers, please skate in the skate lane
Classic skiers, ski in the set classic tracks and not in the skate lane (leaves ruts).
Walkers / Snowshoers, walk to the side of the trails opposite the set classic tracks.
Dog Owners, control your dogs and pick up the scat.
Broke trail along the blue diamond route on Sunday. Shin deep with minimal navigation obstacles. Get your fish scale skiing in before the rain washes it away.
Just a short heads up that the last snowshoe time trial for the Arctic Winter Games is tomorrow (Tuesday) at 2:30pm at the Campground. There will only be a couple snowshoers and they will keep to the opposite side of the trail from classic track. They should be wrapped up around 3:30pm.
We skied mid-day today from 11:00 to 1:00 at Eagle Beach. State Parks had groomed this weekend, and David was hitting it again today. There is a good classic and skate track all the way around and on the inner trails. They also ran under the bridge and around the Methodist Camp loop with a single classic track. We skied classic with an extra blue kick wax and it was perfect. It was about 27 degrees when we finished.
