It was snowing at Eaglecrest all day today. The lower loop has excellent coverage everywhere. The trail was packed but no classic track set. The groomers will look at it tonight and attempt to groom and track set the full loop. If we survive this short wet stretch of weather we should be in good shape for the end of the week.
Groomed for skate conditions are good.
6 inches of snow last night. Rain at present.
Jeff W. wasn’t able to complete the groom this am, due to a mechanical overheating condition. Like the terminator, he will be back.
Eaglecrest groomed the lower loop for skate and classic this morning, but the snow was falling so thick and fast that by noon it was almost buried. But it is still skiable. What a nice problem to have – too much snow! The new snow is a bit sticky, so Maxiglide is recommended for waxless skis and good glide wax for skate skis. Swix violet glide would have been good today. KIck wax wax touch and go, ranging from Swix blue extra (a little too slick) and Swix purple (a little too grabby). Who knows what tomorrow will bring?
Montana Creek groomed this morning, heavy snow falling at noon.
A fresh coat of groom paint was applied this evening. I drilled again at the beginning middle and end of the long straightaway on the lake and got conistent 8″, in all three holes.
Not sure if it is the “warm” temps (15 instead of 2) or the grooming or the wax, but the conditions at Montana Creek seem to be the best in years. Fast snow, super silky and soft, tremendous white wonderland, no wind, OMG!
