Scott set a classic track on Mendenhall Lake late Friday afternoon. The old classic track was blown out and icy, and the new track is more skiable. Dress and wax for the cold. I found it better to walk down to the lake before I put on my skis in order to avoid all the debris on the trail.
There’s some tree debris/hamstring catchers but pretty nice, this year considered, esp for skating… do your snow jiggle!
Track in good condition for both skate and classic, but slowed by lots of wind blown debris. Wax for cold snow, its 10 out there!
Paul groomed the camp ground. The inter part does not have much debris and little more on the side near the lake. But is skiable.
Lots of wind blow debris all the way up. Windy at the top. I made one pass up and back . Sit by the fire or try the camp ground not as much debris
Groomed the campground for both classic and skate. Both are good and fast BUT watch for road gravel in the classic track in the woods on the back loop, also in skate path as you come out of the woods at back of the hill, and at the front base of the hill.
Steve groomed this morning and conditions were excellent for Skating! Just an occasional light breeze on the trail. Classic track too icy to groom.
