Scott just called in after grooming the Mendenhall campground. He reports the skate ski conditions are fair to good, and the classic track is frozen and rough.
Clear & crisp -22 degrees at 6pm and we’re the only ones there. Tracks too iced up but the groomers have done a fabulous job on the skating track Very skiable (sp) for us classic skiers.
Skied lower loop. Hard surface groomed for skate only. Classic skiing pretty good in the ungroomed snow right next to the groomed trail.
Skate track groomed up very well this morning and classic remains solid and well formed. Less debris on tracks this morning. Lots of sun and wonderful conditions out there.
WIll touch up surface this morning
The upper loop is as good as it gets. Groomers added some new terrain, and much of the Troy (forest) loop is groomed, for both classic and skate. Total of about 3.5 km. The classic is very good (base wax plus blue hard wax for kick). The skating looks quite good as well. With the cool temps it should be good for several days.
Most of the lower loop has been rolled, with no classic tracks. Colder temperatures make it hard and challenging right now. However, the has filled in nicely and the smallest amount of snow will make for good skiing.
Montana Creek Ginzu groomed this morning. Conditions are good for skate & classic.
Pick up a pine cone or two from trail as they are a hazard.
