I finally got around to setting the kilometer markers on the Montana Creek trail this morning. I started measuring from just inside the gate, even though you can’t put your skis on until the first hill. The trail still measures about 3.2 kilometers one way. Very pleasant classic and skate skiing this morning despite the rain that started just before noon.
Any word on Upper Loop today?
Groomed for skate skiing .starting atop first hill. Conditions are good.
Plenty of fresh snow at Eagle Beach this morning and it was snowing hard when the Juneau Nordic Ski Team finished training there around noon. Skate skiing and classic are both good in the soft, ungroomed snow. Coverage in the trees is getting much better.
The Upper Loop is deep again for the second day from the new snow 3″. They must have groomed at midnight since there is so much fresh on top. Track is now skied in. Skating is still some work.
Sign up for XC clinics next weekend with one of the top ranked instructors in the nation, Scott McGee.
The 4H Sunday Ski Group (25 skiers) is meeting today at Montana Creek trail from 1:30 to 3:00.
Montana Creek groomed again after snowfall this morning. The conditions are very good for both skating and classic. Skating lane starts just after bridge.
