Fast and fun! Thanks for grooming!
During the Civilian Conservation Corps (CCC’s) era in the 1930’s, the U.S. Forest Service supervised CCC labor to construct the first two cabins at 1st and 2nd Meadows. The construction foreman was Dan Moller. At this same time, the Dan Moller Trail was being constructed, followed by the upper cabin in the location that would eventually become the Douglas Ski Bowl. The upper cabin, or Dan Moller Cabin was also known as 3rd Cabin by the locals.
The rock above the cabin.
Skinned up to the basin above Dan Moeller cabin on Madshus Eons on Friday eve. The snow was breakable crust so could really only traverse down and step around. Still it was nice to get above the fog and enjoy the moonlight twilight. Walking down the steeper sections, I was surprised how firm it was. Snowshoes would be the soup du tour for the BC right now.
Camp Ground will be groomed for Skate around noon. Not enough snow for Classic. Lake may be OK for skate not groomed.
Groomed this morning for skate. Classic not groomed.Tthe track is icy but no wax skis work good. Skate 4* Classic 2*
I groomed with the roller and grooming bar this morning, and it’s good to go. Probable 3 on the 5 scale for both skate and classic. Wonderful conditions at noon with blue sky and sun breaking through the earlier fog.
