Just to give everyone an update on the lower loop: I drove a snowcat around a fair amount of the loop with a compactor bar tonight so there should be some ok skate skiing. Unfortunately we need a fair amount more snow before I will send another snowcat out to do more work, there just isn’t enough snow and the risk of damage to our equipment is to great. Until we can get the lower loop open enjoy the expanded terrain at the upper loop.
Skate and classic groomed throughout the camp road and trails.
The Eaglecrest crew has outdone themselves on the Upper Loop. The entire loop is groomed to perfection. Perfect corduroy, perfect classic tracks. They made all kinds of new connectors and route changes. You can ski for hours and never ski the exact same loop. Trickster is groomed for uphill traffic, or take the chair. Get you pass and get up there for some of the best nordic in Alaska!
Groomed this morning. Excellent for both skate and classic. With snow on every branch it looks like a perfect Christmas card! Merry Christmas everyone.
Campground groomed for skate and classic 9:30am. Excellent skate.
Upper Loop was in perfect shape today for skate and classic; does not get better. Also EC packed the entire Troy loop extension to get it ready for more snow coming– it has brush etc in spots but can be skated the whole way if careful.
Lower Loop has not been packed yet, but it has a very skiable skier-set classic track down the middle, and plenty of powder in the meadow.
Montana Creek groomed this morning. Trail widened with Classic track on creek side and super wide Skate track on left looking up.
