What a nice surprise this morning to find Montana Creek beautifully groomed. The classic track is very skiable despite a little bit of debris. The skate track looked excellent. Don’t give up on winter just yet!
Montana Creek was groomed early this morning by Paul.
Conditions for skate skiing were **** excellent. Classic
track still in place. Skiing starts at bottom of first hill.
Campground groomed out nicely as enough snow remains, fewer wet spots with overnight draining and snow shoveled into low spots. Classic track touched up after yesterday’s race and it’s sunny out there too. 38F at 10.
I will be out there touching up the skate track with the grooming bar and checking to see if I can improve the classic or not. There’ll be some shoveling involved and I’ll be working it over from about 10 – 11 today.
Ginzu Groomed Montana Creek today cleaned up 4 wheeler tracks.
Conditions were fair for skate and classic tract was still intact.
Now have Ice on track from gate to Snowmachine area and down the
first hill. Ice gripper’ s recommended for Sunday.
Just skated this morning before the Nordic skiers came out for their 10AM classic race. Skate set up nicely overnight and firmed up enough to be fast in good stretches. There are wet spots but lots of real, white snow and solid skating. Start from the gate across from the office and take the first left onto the back loop, ski around Mt. Mike and then back onto the back loop without going down the main road back to the parking lot.
There is adequate snow at Eagle Beach, but it is soft and holds a lot of water. There are a couple large puddle sections near Saturday Creek cabin. About 1/3 of the track could not be track set for classic because the snow was too wet. Other portions of the track, along the back loop (Marten Cabin, etc) groomed up the best, and have both skate and classic lanes.
