Groomed skate. Nice and fast. Couldn’t touch the classic track.
Groomed the skate track at Eagle this morning. Got most of it, but because of machine issues only did one pass on the first part of the road and the cut-off trail. The Ginzu broke up the hard pack well, a little coarse but definitely skiable. I left the classi track alone, it is firm and also skiable.
Skate groomed up nicely, and there’s sugar on top for you sweettooth, herring-bone striders. Fast conditions and stream is still open and running in places which makers for a pleasant skating scenario. Enjoy the warming, 20’s conditions.
Will reset skate and imagine that’s impossible for classic until we get warmer snow.
Like Mom said the lake ice cannot be called safe, but that’s what makes it fun! If your tolerance of risk includes open water at the glacier face, and potential thin spots or overflow conditions, you might enjoy some of the best wild ice in a generation.
Attendance was low, but skiers got the goods. Sedge worked the surface into a fine fast powder. Start Green was the wax. Surprise visit from Guy Thibodeau. Fencing at the entry was moved to prevent unauthorized fun. Thanks for the chocolate balls!
Great ice skating conditions on Mendenhall Lake, Auke Lake and Twin Lakes today (2/3/19).
