The micro climate and dedication of JNSC groomers has the area in terrific shape for skate and classic (universal klister or no wax great!)… oh and thanks to the Anya Maier for skiing with her shovel and discarding all the doggie discards along the trail from beginning to end. She gets the Dog Poop Karma Award, so please, let’s pitch in and pick up after our pets.
Found pet-saver remote training device on trail-forgot it was in my pocket so it came home with me. Groomer tomorrow will leave it on Juneau Nordic ski club sign near snowmachine.
Campground is groomed for Skat and Classic. Little soft but still good.
MT Creek is groomed for skate and classic. Rained heavy between 9-10 AM but light sprinkle now. Skating was initially soft but now the JNS team has packed it down and it’s quite good. Classic is great. Thanks to AM, who volunteered to come out with a shovel and clean up all of the doggie mess.
A heads up: the Juneau Nordic Ski Team will be practicing at Montana Creek from 10-12 saturday. Say hi to our amazing team if you are on the trails. Coach Merry
Eagle Beach was groomed for skate and classic Friday evening. Conditions are generally good, with soft, wet snow. Beware of tree debris (needles, twigs, small sticks) in parts of the back loop.
Groomed skate and classic. Looks pretty good. A little debris from yesterday’s wind but over all decent conditions. 36 degrees, very light drizzle and calm. 4 skiers with smiles on their faces when I finished.
