Hiked up to the first big Spaulding meadow then skied across and down to the cabin, then out the cabin trail. The meadows have an amazing base with just a few inches on top that make skiing wonderful. Nobody has yet skied from the cabin toward Auk Mtn. Maybe you?
With the help from Hank and two skiers the two trees were removed from the road. I went out and set a classic track and a skate lane. The snow was challenging to groom so it did not turn out that well that well. Watch out for rock in the classic track in the tall timber section.
Eaglecrest groomed the complete lower loop for skate and classic this morning. Then we got a ton of new snow that quickly covered it! Classic skiing is good, skating is a challenge. The “dog loop” off of the lower parking lot is packed for the first time in years.
Headed out now to remove two trees from road and then groom. Should be completed by mid afternoon.
PS Eaglecrest lower loop is great. I worked with groomer Jake to improve the flow and put in 75% of Tim’s Folly – aka Dog Loop.
Grooming completed Great conditions
I noticed this morning the groomer rolled the track and then left. Was it something I said? No, it’s not you or your outfit. The groomer is allowing the track to harden before applying the ginzu finishing touches about 2 hours later.
There is a skate Sprint tomorrow Saturday on the lower loop at 10:30. Come before get your heart rate up before making your turns on the hill.
The full loop is in just like the good ole days plus some extra mini loops here and there. Great conditions but a little soft. It didn’t start snowing until 10:30.
