The Juneau Nordics Ski Team will be having a practice between 4:30-6pm at Montana creek – just a heads up in case you like to avoid the masses.
Skating lane better than expected. Widened. Ginzu run over the start and icy hill, still icy but improved. In spite of cold temps track was fast and firm.
Montana Creek has been groomed and the conditions for both skating in classic should be excellent. The Junior Racers are here from 10 to noon. Come on out.
The Juneau Nordic Ski Team (JNST) will be skiing the Montana Creek trail from 10-12 today, a regular work out time. Just FYI
Eagle Beach was icy and full of frozen ruts and post-hole boot tracks, but the ginzu chopped up most of it Friday night. The result: there will be some fair skate skiing this weekend. We emphasize “fair” – there are some thin icy spots on the back loop, and some hard frozen ruts remain in places. There is no classic track set – we need more snow to make that work.
Lots of smiles for the groomer today, thanks! Made two passes with the ginsu. Skate skiing is great, didn’t touch the classic track as it is well frozen in place. If you didn’t get a ski in during the day, get out under the stars!
Lower Track rolled and combed this morning at 8am. Results were variable. As the old Mexican Restaurant next to Foggy Mountain, Franciscos, used to have on their menu. “We may not be the Best, but we are different” If you stick to the sunny meadow loop your ski belly will be satisfied.
