Finished rolling lower loop. Decent classic and skate considering the snow depth. Come on up with a good attitude and have fun in the mountains. Caution numerous hazards exist
Skied at noon. New snow not groomed on upper trail but good tracks down for nordic skiing and good snow coverage. Lower loop has not been groomed at all. Lower parking lot and parking in front of the muskeg sign have not been plowed so watch your nylons if your in a little car like our Leaf or you might get stuck.
Ranger Brad, StoneGuy, and I rolled Eagle Beach Campground. Coverage is too thin for setting a classic track, and too thin for skiing the back-loop under the trees. We did groom a short-track, down the main-campground road, up the hill and down the inside loop back to the main road. Should be able to ski classic or skate on the short track. All I want for solstice is some more snow!
Campground is in great shape after grooming this morning. No classic track yet as there’s not quite enough snow and the ginzo is not available yet. Nice soft snow on a hard icy base. Weather is beautiful, get out there and ski the shortest day of the year! Happy Solstice.
Fresh corduroy for skating and classic track is set. Get out there and enjoy a solstice ski!
I should be finished grooming the campground about 10:30 this morning (Dec. 21)
Groomed Montana Creek at 10am and again at 1:30pm both classic and skate. By the end of the day, the skate track was starting to set up nicely. Lots of people out enjoying the day.
