Lower loop groomed for skate and classic. Classic is good. Last groomed late morning today
Skate track set as well as possible
for first grooming of the season. Enough snow for skating and will become flatter with more snow. Only a few scars on the corduroy and ripples where we need more snow. Enough to warrant a lap or two and start working on your form!
Working on track this morning and trying to get it set up. Will post afterwords with an update!
We’ve been rolling the lower Nordic trails for the past five days. There’s a 4-5km route, no classic track. Conditions should be excellent. Eaglecrest will groom again on Sunday. The plan is to hit the trails after finishing the main mountain by 10am.
The upper trails have been compacted with a snow cat and rolled three passes with the new snow machine tow. Marginal conditions, but skiable. Access to the upper trails and cabin via Trickster trail.
12/6/19 Fri Nite 32-36 degrees. Hardened corn snow starts at trail head. All trail peppered with dog and walker tracks. Bike ruts start at top and stop at 2nd Archery bridge. Classic tracks icy. Skate tracks rough and hardened. Half moon out some.
Thanks to a small group effort and especially Peter Ord, one of the most experienced JNSC groomers, the first rolling of the season has been accomplished. Some wet spots, high humidity snow (sticky on fish scales), purple wax? probably. Snowing when I left. Stay to right when heading out to field from new A frame building.
The lake creek access is a bit muddy but the skiing is awesome with about 10 inches of powdery snow up high.
