If you see R. Imel’s name on the grooming calendar, and it’s a powder day you know that the grooming will eventually be done. After the the schneef has been hoovered. So this day was like any other. There is plenty of material for a reality TV show ‘The Real Lives of Alaskan Groomers’. Episode 7 had P. Ord stranded in deep powder halfway up Montana Creek with no recovery tools! That was the last big storm. So Sedgesprite played it safe tonight, pulling the roller with Mini-Sedgesprite as shovel mate, machine handler and no. 1 ratchet puller if things went pear shaped. New snow was limited, so the BTB (Border to Border) assault was erased with a quick combover. Temps 32F, snow fast.

To all Juneau area groomers: Eagle Beach, Montana, Campground, Lake, Eagle Crest upper and lower, Pioneer: KIITOS from the 90 of us who skied Border to Border yesterday… able to enjoy the best of 47KM (if you skied all) from the Island to the Mainland- a first in groomed Juneau! This highly flagged and pickled event is only possible because all of the work the groomers do, every day, to ensure we are sliding over the snow here. What a winter to celebrate and a spring to anticipate.

Groomers On Fleek

Lake and Campground were double or tripleteamed in an MMF style attack. Result near perfect conditions as the team beat back the washboard with a long slow groove and added milage with a Visitor Center loop. The VC loop was designed to attract only the best people, so let us know if undesireables are pulling brodies and leaving beer cans and dirty diapers on that side.
