Both tracks came out beautifully. Snow is soft and temps are rising. Almost is hats and gloves off skiing. The campground is firmer but the quiet up Montana Ck. is wonderful. Plenty of snow left and conditions should be better in the mornings after a fresh groom and maybe some cooler setup happening at night.
Should be able to reset both tracks this morning. More to report later, after I get my two laps in post grooming time!
If you see R. Imel’s name on the grooming calendar, and it’s a powder day you know that the grooming will eventually be done. After the the schneef has been hoovered. So this day was like any other. There is plenty of material for a reality TV show ‘The Real Lives of Alaskan Groomers’. Episode 7 had P. Ord stranded in deep powder halfway up Montana Creek with no recovery tools! That was the last big storm. So Sedgesprite played it safe tonight, pulling the roller with Mini-Sedgesprite as shovel mate, machine handler and no. 1 ratchet puller if things went pear shaped. New snow was limited, so the BTB (Border to Border) assault was erased with a quick combover. Temps 32F, snow fast.
Near perfect conditions for both skating and classic—Montana Creek is ready for the border to border. Come on out!
A couple of passes to smooth out the skate skiing. Didn’t touch the classic track it is in good (frozen) shape! Enjoy, and see you tomorrow at the border to border event!
Skate Groomed this morning. Looks spectacular. Track had nice hoar frost. Does it get better??
Freshly groomed. Great conditions
