Scott groomed the usual 4 km of the lower loop for skate and classic this morning. Conditions are excellent!
The Juneau Nordic Ski Team (JNST) would like to invite the Nordic ski community to participate in the second annual Ski for Gold – a community celebration of Nordic skiing on Sunday Feb. 17 at the lake and campground.
This is not a race. Ski for Gold is a chance for Juneau Nordic skiers to join together for a great day of skiing, as we collectively try to ski as many kilometers as possible in one day.Last year together we skied 1,476 km, this year’s goal is 2,000 km! Come help us make this happen!
We’ll have a place for your to record the number of kilometers skied along with snacks and drinks to fuel our efforts. Come ski for an hour or 2 or more anytime during the day.
Laid fresh corduroy for skating this evening. It should set up tonight and be really good Sunday. Merry said it was excellent! I did not touch the classic track as we need more snow.
Enjoy the road or head to the Mendenhall Campground and Lake and participate with the Juneau Nordic Ski Team in meeting the 2000k in one day goal.
Trail widened to full witch Friday afternoon with new Class track set late Friday afternoon. Its a Super Hwy now.
Ski for Gold is SUNDAY not Saturday.
Lower loop freshly groomed this morning for skate and classic. 4 km including the meadow loop. Excellent conditions.
Eagle Beach is skiable with good snow coverage. However, the snow machine is down for needed repairs; consequently, the trails will not be freshly groomed over the weekend of Feb 16-17.
